About

Listpics is a highly configurable ASP application that automatically generates fast thumbnail web indexes of images in a folder structure. A licensed ActiveX Image control is included. Features: High-speed thumbnail listings, Auto-maintaining database, User/Admin passwords, Intermediate low resolution images, View EXIF info, Image descriptions, View counters, Comments. Full version: Web based admin page, Slide show, Zip & Download, Search, Categories, Send by Email, Exif creation date, Upload, Rename, Unzip, Rebuild, Convert, Delete, Rotation (Lossless JPG, retain EXIF), Mirror and Resize.

Fixed! On a 64-bits OS, thumbnailing of video files will not work (causing an Exception). Updated the Imagex.ocx ActiveX control.

Update the database with Update_lp.asp (works for Access MDB only, use FAQ171 for SQL!)

Free version
The free version has the following functionalifty for personal use and testing purposes:
	A licensed ActiveX image control is included (and must be installed)
	Information is stored in an MS Access or MS SQL Server database.
	Highly configurable and extremely fast, Smart and fully automatic update mechanism when images are added or modified
	Supported image types: BMP, TIF, JPG, JPG2000, PNG, PCX, TGA, ICO, GIF Read support for RAW files: RAF,CRW,CR2,MRW,NEF,ORF,DNG,PTX,RAW Supported video types: everything playable with Windows Media Player (Frame capture only, DirectX 8.1+ required). Also supports client side viewing/playing of multimedia files like AVI, MPG and MP3
	Pass-protect and Hide folders, block IP ranges
	Easily create direct links to images with an optional expiration date.
	Use intermediate low resolution images to save bandwidth and download time

Important notes

Copy your images to the /ListPics/_Images subfolder, or define an alternative RootFolder in global.asa.

Disable "Read" and "Execute" permissions in IIS for the /_Images and /Database folders to prevent direct downloading (Virtual directory - Properties - Directory Tab).

Upgrading the full version? Always download both the latest free version and source files and copy source files over the free version.

Always keep a backup copy of your images in a safe place. It's not recommended to use your originals in ListPics.
